Work safety and procedures in printing.
Silkscreen printing technology, preparation of the screen.
Compatibility of the fabric and the dyestuff.
Mixing, applying and fastening pigment dyes.
Special treatments in pigment printing, using the heat press machine.
Mixing, applying and fastening reactive dyes.
Finishing and maintenance of printed textiles.
Study outcome
Having passed the course the student
has received an overview of technological possibilities of screen printing;
is familiar with work safety principles and accustomed to employing correct procedures;
is able to estimate suitability of pigment and reactive dyes for a variety of materials;
is able to produce a print screen using the photo emulsion method;
is able to perform required pre- and after process treatments;
is able to analyse results of test prints and redesign the working process accordingly.
