Aim
To provide an understanding of what color is, how humans perceive color, the anomalies of color perception. Different color models (RGB vs CMYK vs LAB) and their connections. The need for and the principles of color management. To provide students with the knowledge of how to keep the colors correct throughout the workflow until the end result. To provide the knowledge and skills for the configuration of color management devices.
Study outcome
On successful completion of this course the students should be able to:

• comprehend the characteristics of color and the need for color management;
• configure color management software, calibrate displays and use ICC profiles;
• configure color management settings according to the type of work at hand;
• know the correct color space for a given end result;
• convert files from source color space to target color space;
• solve problems involving color (client - designer - printer).
