| General description |
• nature in the narrow sense of non-culture and more widely as "nature in a relationship with culture"; the differences between landscape and man-altered landscape.
• the influence of worldview on how nature is depicted in images;
• empirical, aesthetic and critical take on nature and its representation;
• using the practical fundamentals of photography for the depiction of natural environments and natural objects;
• applying theory when in contact with nature;
• critical analysis of the — usually non-repeatable — result. |

| Study outcome |
On successful completion of this course the students should be able to:
• have an understanding of the distinction between the natural and the non-natural, and can describe this photographically;
• know the technical variations, possibilities and limitations of photographing in nature;
• perceive nature as a source of creative expression, a possibility and a resource;
• see the strengths in their and co-students' work and find ways to improve the work technically and compositionally;
• behave purposefully in nature. |
