Aim1. Provide high-quality professional higher education in the field of textile arts.
2. Educate artists/designers who boast a range of technical and intellectual skills and are able to solve problems creatively, and who feel responsibility for the preservation and advancement of specialist traditions. 3. Provide students with an integrated understanding of the developmental factors and the role of art and design in contemporary society. 4. Teach the skills for using different tools and media for the accomplishment of projects, promote cooperation and encourage inclination to find innovative solutions. 5. Develop the ability to see interconnections between the different disciplines and understand the opportunities in the speciality area in a wider context. 6. Prepare students for careers in companies that operate in the speciality area, provide conditions for continuing studies in the formal education system and/or pursuing lifelong learning. Module of elective and optional subjects: it is compulsory to select one of the three elective sets of general subjects (see curriculum modules below); optional subjects can be selected from among the optional subject courses offered by TAC (about 10 courses each term) and by other higher education institutions. Speciality electives: students are required to accumulate 6 ECTS through electives. The Departure of Textile offers speciality electives in the form of different theme projects. StructureThe curriculum (240 ECTS) comprises the following modules:

Final project 15 ECTS Learning outcomesUpon successful completion of the curriculum, students will:
- be professionals in their speciality who are knowledgeable about the theoretical approaches and applications in the speciality area; - be able to see the relationship between different subject areas; - know the traditions of the field, understand the future trends of the subject area within today’s context; - be capable of using the acquired basic skills creatively in their professional practice; - know specialist vocabulary and be able to express themselves in writing, see the relationship between the professional issues and the cultural environment at large, apply research principles to the background study of their creative projects; - have developed the integrated knowledge and skills essential for designing and executing textiles; be able to set goals and choose methods as a designer and/or artist, taking account of the context and clients’ needs; - be able to plan their activities and implement projects from the concept to the fruition, cooperating with specialists from other fields where necessary; - demonstrate initiative and a sense of responsibility when working either alone or as part of a team; - have the abilities and skills necessary to work as textile artist/ designer in the field of interior textiles and/or clothing; - have an understanding of the development processes in society and be able to address topical social issues through artistic expression; - have ethical views and capacity for critical self-reflection; - have advanced their skills through participation in textile and fashion projects and developed their preference for the minor field of professional training; - be committed to continuing professional studies in the formal education system and/or pursuing lifelong learning.
