General description

• Finding a context for their typeface
• Matching and placing typefaces into the context
• Completion of examples
• Designing missing punctuation marks, numbers, and symbols necessary in the work
• Composing typeface specifications
• Presenting different uses of typefaces and specifications on a typographic poster

Aim

The objective is to learn to recognize the different fonts around; to perceive changes in typography on the historical axis; to be able to change a picture into a font on the computer; to create their own fonts; to be able to convert fonts for use in design and desktop publishing programs and onscreen; to be able to use fonts in the best context by creating it yourself.

Study outcome

Upon completion of the course, students will:
1. perceive the processes taking place in the history of typography;
2. perceive the cultural differences of typefaces;
3. be able to evaluate and analyse the peculiarities of typefaces;
4. be able to construct technical typefaces;
5. be able to convert fonts for use in the digital environment;
6. be able to create a typographic poster.
