General description• Dealing with the history, meaning, style and practical visual applications of different signs
• Sign-creation is approached as a symbiosis of theoretical and practical solutions in both: the initial design work as well as the re-design • Specific concepts and development of the ability to justify their choices AimThe objective is to create an understanding of pictography as a visual communication tool, and to develop the ability to participate fully in this process; help understanding the sign design process, its the different stages and provide practical tips; direct students to find new innovative sign solutions.
Study outcomeUpon completion of the course, students will:
1. understand a visual sign as a carrier of information; 2. be able to direct the perception process of a sign in a desirable course and is capable of relaying their idea in an acceptable design; 3. be able to develop or create new public signs.
