General description• Working with technological painting problems characteristic to oil paints.
• Painting objects, figure, nude and double figure from life. • Experimenting with different painting possibilities and ideas. • Depicting background surfaces and object’s colour nuances. • Creating a painting composition and composition painting. Study outcomeUpon completion of the course, students will:
• have a systematic overview about the possibilities to use oil paints and skills to work with them; • be able to depict objects, items, figures and nude through painting with oil paints; • be able to model a form with colour tones, lightness-darkness and light-shadow; • comprehend the following terms: layer-by-layer, optical, pigment blend, wet-to-wet, warm-cold, intensive-neutral, complementary, light-dark, colourful-monochrome, surface-spatial, thicker-transparent, and be able to use them in the practical painting; • be able to create a whole on the pictorial surface and solve the problems regarding the detail/generalisation; • be capable of making different painting compositions based on the work’s character; • have understood the possibilities of a given material and the important phases in preparing painting.
