Subject 'Wall Painting Conservation I'Name in Estonian: Seinamaalingute konserveerimine I
General descriptionThe nature of the work depends on the specific object. Introduction to the object’s documentation and during the restoration works, a restoration program confirmed by the National heritage Board will be followed.
• Materials, e.g. lime putty, sand, canvas, sandpapers, retouching media and tools; • Tools, e.g. spatulas, chisels, syringes, scalpels; • Solvents’ formulas, e.g. adhesives, fillers, primers/coats, cleaning solvents; • Damages. Study outcomeUpon completion of the course, students will:
• be familiar with the main decorating practices and techniques of the historic interiors; • be familiar with the classical base materials of wall paintings, mortar; • be familiar with the pigments and adhesives and their corresponding fixing materials used for paintings; • be skilful in exposing different paint layers and using assisting tools; • have an overview about the main factors damaging wall paintings and be aware of the preservation principles and methods; Is taught in following curricula2019: 2266 2018: 2266 2017: 2266 2016: 2266 2015: 2266 2014: 2266 2013: 2266
