Identification of old papers. • Invention of cellulose paper. Technological development of paper industry. • Papers for different purposes, their qualities and applications. Best-known paper manufacturers. • History of Estonian paper industry. AimThe objective is to provide the basic knowledge about the most important stages in the history of paper.
Study outcomeUpon completion of the course, students will:
• have comprehensive knowledge about the most important stages of the history of paper; • be familiar with the technological principles of producing cotton and cellulose paper; • be familiar with different paper types, their specifics and applications; • be familiar with the basic methods to identify old paper and be able to apply them in practice; • be able to bring out the specifics of the development of paper production in Estonia; • develop a discussion and/or express their thoughts in written based on their acquired knowledge.
