• Antiqua and Grotesque typefaces: historical overview and examples from nowadays.
• Analysing the problems related to the proportions and optics of fonts.
• Finding solutions to design problems.
• Practical work. Designing a letter, word and a text.
• Analysing the suitability of writing instruments and materials.
• Using performance and finishing techniques.

Upon completion of the course, students will:
• analyse the application possibilities of Antiqua and Grotesque typefaces nowadays;
• be able to find solutions to the problems related to the proportions and optics of fonts;
• generate creative ideas and be able to find solutions to design problems;
• be able to create a complete solution to the design while understanding the specifics and interaction of fonts;
• be familiar with different writing instruments (pens, brushes, papers and inks) and use their skills and knowledge in creating contemporary letter design;
• be able to present their works and justify their choices.
