• Gothic, Art Nouveau and various design letterings: historical overview and examples from nowadays.
• Lettering designs with practical application possibilities.
• Devising a cover design for bindings.
• Using various writing instruments (pencil, pen, brush etc.).
• Solving the problems of optics and construction;
• Analysing the suitability of techniques and materials. Finding solutions to the problems related to colour and form.

Upon completion of the course, students will:
• have the knowledge about the application fields of Gothic, Art Nouveau and various design letterings;
• be able to design Gothic, Art Nouveau and various design letterings;
• be able to creatively work with different lettering styles all together;
• be familiar with the work techniques and apply them in practice;
• be able to present their works and justify their choices.
