General descriptionDesigning a leather garment (design, construction, technology and sewing).
• Creating a complete image about the product under design (leather vest). • Overview about the vest's anthology, function, development and meaning over times. • Passing through and documenting the preparation cycle (from the design to the ready-made object) of a product. • Practical work: - analysing the suitability of the materials of leather garments; - solving problems regarding the technologies; - using performance and finishing techniques. AimThe objective is to ensure a sufficient preparation for the independent creative work in making designer clothes.
Study outcomeUpon completion of the course, students will:
• have the knowledge about the main construction of a garment, and be able to create a construction based on the design; • be able to synthesise new interesting design solutions by combining different constructions and technologies; • take the functionality of the object and its expressiveness of form into consideration during the design process; • have the basic knowledge about the specifics of leather and be able to find the suitable one; • be familiar with the techniques of creating composition characteristic to gloves and be able to apply them creatively in practice; • be capable of developing a technical solution suitable for the conceptual design and carry it out in practice. • be able to exhibit their works and justify their choices.
