General description• the object of art theories and the various ways to articulate it;
• essentialist and functionalist visual culture theories; • the interpretive operations of art analysis; • the interpretive methods of art analysis; • poly-, inter- and dedisciplinary methods of analysis in art communication; • the limits and specificity of art communication. Study outcomeOn successful completion of this course the students should be able to:
• understand the fundamentals of how the general cultural and art-specific theories can be applied to the analysis of artworks and art communication; • know the significant contexts necessary for the theorization of art; • knowledgeably choose between different methods of analysis; • combine different methods of analysis and theorization; • analyze reflexively; • know the significant ways and methods of theorization used in separate domains of art (e.g. manugraphy, cinema, advertising, journalism, photography) Is taught in following curricula2014: 2271 2013: 2271
