General description• separating writing and representing as a conditional/ historically established practice;
• the reasons for the dominance of verbal language in society; • the visual aspect of written text; font and text as iconic formations/art; • the idiosyncrasies and the results of mutual influence of of linguistic and iconic messages; • anchorage and disruption; illustrative, commentary and other interrelations between image and text; • contemporary print media and electronic media: combining linguistic and iconic messages; • verbo-visual art (religious art, dada, conceptual art, hypertext, etc); photo-text as the genre historically combining image and text. Study outcomeOn successful completion of this course the students should be able to:
• have diverse knowledge of the historical and contemporary usage of combined image and text • use the main methods of image rhetoric on iconic and verbo-visual level; • find one's way around in the multitude of image-text interrelations; • choose the adequate relations between iconic and linguistic sign systems, based on the character of the work at hand; • predict the semantic consequences of the combined use of image and text • create symbiotic image-text works which speak to the contemporary audience; Is taught in following curricula2019: 2271 2018: 2271 2017: 2271 2016: 2271 2015: 2271 2014: 2271 2013: 2271
