• portrait photography: its character, meaning and possibilities;
• portrait as memory: recording; expressing;
• portraiture: classic studio portrait, portraiture in a natural environment; creative portrait; the requirements for a document photograph (theoretically);
• solving practical assignments — creative and applied requirements;
• critique seminars.

On successful completion of this course the students should be able to:

• perceive and analyze the photogenic properties of the person being portrayed
• effectively communicate with the person being portrayed to achieve good results;
• apply the photographic methods required by the task;
• critically and flexibly assess the end result;
