Subject 'Restoration Project I'Name in Estonian: Restaureerimisprojekt I
General descriptionThe study will take place on the object that is under restoration. The selection of the practical project and setting the object will be made according the requirements of the restorer’s professional standards and the aims set in the learning outcomes.
Study outcomeUpon completion of the course, students will:
• be familiar with the classing base materials of wall paintings, mortars and their conservation possibilities; • be masterful in removing covering paint layers and exposing wall paintings, by knowing necessary materials and their application possibilities; • be familiar with the problems regarding cleaning a surface, and be able to conduct necessary tests and prepare necessary solvents; • perform the painting’s dry cleaning with appropriate methods (e.g. with a brush, sponge, vacuum cleaner), while considering the object’s condition; • Bb able to analyse the condition of the culturally valuable object and comprehend the significance of their work and importance from the perspective of object preservation.
