Subject 'Fundamentals of Architecture'Name in Estonian: Arhitektuuri alused
General descriptionThe history of architecture, content, main principles and styles, conveying the main concept (narrative, photo, abstraction, materials, system), presentation (schemas, drawing, design, content design), drawings (scales, different types), 3D versus 2D (maquette, drawing, axonometry, collage), maquette, competition work, materials, public space and art in city space, place and map (own space).
AimTo provide the basis to read and use the architectural language, introduce the architectural design techniques and technical possibilities, provide the knowledge about the essence of public city space and the skills to combine the specific specialty with the architecture (for example, the architectural design projects and competitions).
Study outcomeUpon completion of the course, students will:
• be familiar with the work process, architectural typologies and designing a public space; • be able to read and prepare the architectural drawings and schemas and use the scale suitable for the concept; • move and convert in the two and three-dimensional world; • be able to prepare the maquette from the ideas (intermediate stages) and the final project, and to complete the competition work.
