General description

Contemporary scientific methods in the research of wall paintings. Macro- and microscopic observations and analyses. The results are used to describe objects.

Aim

The objective is to provide basic knowledge for conducting pre-conservation scientific research using modern tools.

Study outcome

Upon completion of the course, students have acquired theoretical knowledge and practical skills in the main research methods needed to preserve wall paintings and describe their condition.
Students will:
-be able to collect the basic material neccessary for research,
-reinforce the skills needed to make cross-sections and analyse them,
-be able to use a stereomicroscope for materials research,
-be able to use the collected data to describe the object
