General description

• Digital information, file types and formats, file management;
• Photo cameras, sound recordings, video cameras, lighting appliances;
• The completion of narrative from the idea to the final product, scenarios, storyboards, production and post-production;
• General photo qualities – framing, lighting, depth-of field etc;
• General sound qualities – levels, direct and reflected sound, dynamics etc.

Aim

The objective is to provide an overview about the technical tools used in the production and post-production of digital media, general organisation of the work and techniques.

Study outcome

Upon completion of the course, students will:
1. have an overview of the digital media types;
2. be able to handle different file formats;
3. comprehend the general working principles of audio and video recordings and will be able to apply them independently;
4. have an overview of the general principles of audio and video processing;
5. be familiar with the production steps of sound and video clips and the logical course of this process.
