General description

• fashion as a part of identity or as a part of its creator; the characteristics of fashion during different historical periods;
• the differences between fashion photography and other sub-disciplines of photography;
• fashion photography in the studio and in a natural environment — the differences;
• the technical requirements for fashion photos; the possibilities/applications of fashion photography;
• the principles of choosing a model, preparing models for shooting, the stylistical settings of a photo shoot;
• practical assignments on technicality and creativity in a natural environment and in a studio;
• communication principles in fashion photography; the practical execution of a model's portfolio;
• critique seminars.

Study outcome

On successful completion of this course the students should be able to:

• know the basic principles of how the fashion world operates;
• know the requirements set for fashion photographs;
• execute basic level fashion shoots from preparation to end result;
• select and operate lighting and other equipment necessary for fashion photography;
• critically assess their work;
